Naked Turkey and Smashed Avocado Burger

Yes, we all love a good burger. But some days, we can do without the bun and be just fine!

Whatever the reason, sometimes a burger without the bread is the way to go. This lettuce-wrapped turkey burger layers herby smashed avocado and a spicy mayo sauce. We promise you won’t miss the bun!

Naked Turkey and Smashed Avocado Burger

Serves 4

Ingredients

Turkey Burger

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Sliced tomato for topping
  • Lettuce, for wrapping

Smashed Avocado

  • 2 avocados, pitted
  • 1/3 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon or lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Spicy Mayo

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, add ground turkey, mayo, and seasonings. Mix gently until well incorporated. Make 4-inch diameter patties.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through and lightly browned.
  • Serve with smashed avocado and tomato slices wrapped in lettuce, with Spicy Mayo dipping sauce on the side.
  • For the smashed avocado, mash all the ingredients together in a bowl until fully incorporated.
  • For the spicy mayo, mix together in a bowl and set aside.
