Hibiscus Margarita

It’s no surprise that we love a good margarita here at Sweet July, and this version uses an unconventional and extra special ingredient.

Achieving interesting flavors in your cocktails in easier than you think.

We've been known to use a good quality jam as a base for a cocktail, so we thought we'd experiment with one of our favorite drinks to sip on, our Sweet Mornings Tea. The results were refreshing and as delicious as a craft cocktail you'd be served by a mixologist at a swanky bar. The combination of hibiscus flowers and elderberries is what gives this drink its beautiful red color and a bright floral finish. Sip on this with our Grilled Shrimp & Garden Gazpacho for the perfect summer meal.

Ingredients

- 2 bags of Sweet Mornings tea
- 1/2 oz agave
- 3/4 oz lime juice
- 1 1/2 oz blanco tequila
- Lime slices, garnish
- Salt (for rim)

Instructions

step 1

Steep two tea bags in ¾ cup of hot water for 30 minutes (or until the tea has cooled to room temperature).

step 2

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, mix 2 ounces of tea, agave, lime juice and tequila. Shake until the outside of the shaker is frosty and you can run your finger through it. Strain into a salt-rimmed glass. Garnish with lime wedges.
