Spiced Holiday Punch

The make-ahead punch that steals the show.

This cheerful holiday punch is everything you want in a party drink—bright, spiced, and just the right amount of boozy.

A cozy mix of rum, apple brandy, and citrus juices gets a seasonal twist from cinnamon, clove, and cranberry for a drink that tastes like pure holiday cheer. Make it ahead, chill it down, and let the flavors mingle—it’s the easiest way to keep everyone’s glass (and spirits) full all night long.

Ingredients

- SPICED HOLIDAY PUNCH
- 1¼ cups (10 ounces) spiced rum (such as Captain Morgan)
- ¾ cup cranberry juice
- ½ cup fresh orange juice (from 3 oranges)
- ½ cup (2 ounces) apple brandy
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice (from 2 limes)
- ¼ cup Clove Simple Syrup (recipe below)
- 4 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
- Orange wheels, for garnish

- CLOVE SIMPLE SYRUP
- ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
- ½ cup water
- 8–10 whole cloves

Instructions

STEP 1

In a small saucepan, make the Clove Simple Syrup: combine brown sugar, water, and cloves. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until sugar dissolves (about 2–3 minutes).

STEP 2

Remove from heat and let cool completely, about 30 minutes. Strain out the cloves. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.

STEP 3

In a large bowl or 2-quart punch container, combine spiced rum, cranberry juice, orange juice, apple brandy, lime juice, and ¼ cup of the Clove Simple Syrup. Stir well to blend.

Step 4

Add the cinnamon sticks and chill the punch for at least 1 hour (or up to 8 hours) to let flavors meld.

Step 5

Before serving, remove the cinnamon sticks. Serve the punch chilled over ice and garnish each glass with an orange wheel.
